Metallic Paint
Metallic paint is a functional coating made by adding microscopic metal powder (such as aluminium or copper powder) to the paint base. As the film forms and dries, these metal powders distribute in different directions, reflecting, refracting and interfering with light to produce a unique metallic shimmer and a rich sense of depth that noticeably raises the visual quality of the object.
Product features
- Good decorativeness: luxurious metallic luster and shimmer effect, rich and full colors, noticeably raising the product's aesthetic quality and premium feel
- Excellent weather resistance: strong UV resistance, anti-yellowing and anti-peeling, long service life
- Anti-corrosion protection: metal flakes (e.g. aluminium powder) form overlapping layers that block water and oxygen penetration
- Eco-friendly: water as thinner, non-toxic, odorless, non-flammable and non-explosive, significantly reducing VOC emissions and meeting ecological requirements
- Strong adhesion: hard, wear-resistant film with good impact and flexibility resistance
Application scope
Automotive industry: painting and repair of bodies, tires, motorcycles and bicycles. Construction: high-end interior and exterior decoration, steel-structure pavilions, aluminum curtains, doors and windows, tiles. Furniture: offices, cabinets, lamps and hardware, to enhance the modern feel and texture. Industrial equipment: instruments, machinery, cranes and tanks, with aesthetic and anti-corrosion finish.
Application method
① Substrate preparation: thorough removal of grease, dust, moisture and impurities; deoxidation of metal substrates by sanding or blasting to Sa2.5; sanding to increase roughness; repair cracks and defects with putty (e.g. polyester) and sand smooth. ② Primer: spray epoxy primer or special sealer primer; prevents oxidation, improves adhesion and saves topcoat. ③ Spray the metallic paint: mix strictly according to the instructed ratio (no high-speed stirring that damages the flakes), filter to avoid gun clogging, spray in "multiple fine coats" with crossing even strokes; allow evaporation time between coats; uniformity is key: avoid runs, spots and color differences. ④ Varnish: after full drying (normally 2-4 h or longer at room temperature), apply 1-2 even coats of clear varnish, which protects the fragile metallic paint layer and noticeably improves weather, scratch and chemical resistance as well as gloss, making the metallic luster deeper.
